Inpatient Department and Surgical Services

HEH is officially a 51 bed hospital as recognized by health department of ministry of health. HEH has three categories for the patient who get admitted and stay during night in hospital. The first one is general ward where 24 patients can accommodate at a time. The beds are arranged in a big hall close to one another patients. The second category of the bed is deluxe cabin bed, with separate room for each patient. Where a visitors can accommodate with the patient. The third types of beds are free ward, which is arranged for the camp patients and is completely free and can be used by the patients  came from the eye screening camps. Nowadays eye surgeries are being done under the day care facilities. Thus, patients who have their relatives in the city and/or from the city can go to home after the surgery and come back to hospital next day for follow up. IPD department is led by a qualified staff nurse accompanied by eye health workers and CMAs. HEH has been providing surgical services at the base hospital and surgical outreach settings from the time it was established. By far, the main surgeries performed by HEH are for cataract. Initially, when the hospital did not have subspecialis ophthalmologists HEH provided general ophthalmological surgical services. As the ophthalmologists were trained in subspecialties and the hospital was equipped with additional surgical instruments and other resources for subspecialties, HEH has been providing various subspecialty surgical services.
